Reason Studios announced the release of Reason 12 back in May of 2021, and true to their words, it is now available for purchase. Reason 12 is available for $399 via direct download from the official website or as a $129 upgrade for owners of Reason 1-11, Reason 11 Suite, Reason Student/Teacher, Balance with Reason Essentials, or Record. In addition, a Reason 12 upgrade for owners of Reason Intro, Reason Lite, Reason Essentials, and Reason Adapted is available at the cost of $299. Finally, a subscription version called Reason+ is also available with a seven-day free trial.

Reason 12 has been in beta since May, and according to Reason Studios, was created with the intention of leveling up the Rack experience. Reason 12 features an updated combinator allowing users to combine their favorite devices, choose the panel size, change background colors or even add a custom background. It also now includes Mimic, which is a new sampler designed for quick and immediate triggering, chopping, and audio manipulation. The Reason 12 interface is zoomable and features high-resolution graphics, while the new faster browsing experience makes it easy to find your devices, samples, and patches. This is useful for the huge sound banks with more than 29000 device patches, loops, and samples that are included with Reason 12.
