One of the most incredible new synths available. It re-defines analog synthesis in a modern synth. Using Virtual Sound Modeling technology the intricate nuances and character of analog synth sounds are beautifully recreated on this amazingly flexible synth.

First of all, it can sound like them all, an ARP 2600 or a Minimoog or a Roland Jupiter. This synth is polyphonic and multitimbral, it has a very flexible filter, LFO and Envelope control, portamento/legato, a great arpeggiator and analog-like dedicated knobs for quick and easy synthesizing!

Everything is MIDI'd up and controllable, there's a great pitch bender and a 'morphing' feature. A performance mode allows certain parameters to be stored with a sound such as unison or poly modes, legato and portamento. It is available as a Keyboard, a Rackmount module and as Virtual PC Software.

This synth is currently in use by lots of artists including Ken Ishii, The Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, Cirrus, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Deftones, Mouse on Mars, Maroon 5, Dr. Dre, Laurent Garnier, ATB, The Prodigy, Autechre, Astral Projection, Boom Boom Satellites, Fluke, Front Line Assembly, KMFDM and Underworld.

I've used Nord Leads before... 1 and 2. I honestly don't see the hype. They're good synths but nothing so special to justify their average used prices on ebay. I think people get caught up in the red color scheme or something, haha! For the money there's better options out there, imo.

This is a amazing synth, i snagged one in almost new condition with the manual (no cards) for $600. I love this synth, It does what it does really well and sounds great. If you are into buying and collecting synthesizers a nord lead or nord lead 2 are a must own.

I'm thinking about selling my Nord Lead virtual analog keyboard. It is the original one with a pcmcia card, manual and original box. How much do you think I can sell it for?

Having used it for a few months I can't really agree with the "amazingly flexible"-statement, while the primitive engine lacks certain features (tempo-sync LFOs, pulsewave LFO) to name a few, it makes up for it with a GREAT sound! Yes, this 16 year old firstborn VA still has a sound quality and sonic presence that puts many recent VAs to shame, however, it will still sound unmistakably nord, and if you're after the purest of Nords then the mk1 is a great buy, I'd probably look for one with the voice-exp though, or NL2/2x if you're more picky about voices than the "original" nord character ;)

been in a room with a NordLead1 for a few hours; to be honest, it dissappointed me.
