E-mu ESI-4000

E-mu ESI-4000 Image

The ESI-4000 is a professional sampler at a breakthrough price! It's a 64 voice sampler with 4 MB sampling (expandable to 128 MB). The ESI-4000 is basically a fully upgraded ESI-32, with double the polyphony! There is a host of powerful DSP capabilities and sample editing tools including time compression and expansion, parametric EQ, and digital tuning, manual and automatic truncation, cross-fade looping, cut, copy, paste, normalization, transform multiply and automatic correlation for easy looping.

Well equipped for studio use, the ESI-4000 ships with 4 analog outputs and a standard built-in SCSI interface for easy integration with your computer, CD-ROM, and other storage media. The ESI-4000 is available in three varieties: Standard, Turbo, and Turbo Zip. The Turbo offers two additional stereo sub-outs, an effects stereo submix, two 24-bit stereo effects processors, and S/PDIF digital I/O. The Turbo Zip comes with all of the Turbo features and replaces the standard 3.5 inch floppy drive with an Iomega Zip drive. The Standard ESI-4000 can be upgraded using the ESI Turbo Option Kit. With its ability to grow with your needs, the ESI-4000 may be the only sampler you'll ever need to buy!

A great bit of kit that goes for silly low prices on e-bay. I bought an ESI4000 in near mint condition with the memory maxed out at 128Megs for just £45. An absolute and powerful bargain. I also own an E5000 Ultra, and while it's true that the editing is easier on the ultra, the sound quality of the ESI is just as good. A nice machine at an absolute bargain price.

Quick note to people below who mentioned Analog Filters and VCA... NO NO NO!! They do sound warm and Analog but the filters and VCA in the ESI are implemented in DIGITAL processing not Analog at all.

Hi, feel free to delete me if this is a violation. Basically, I'm trying to figure out what to ask for a turbo version of this I'm selling with an internal zip drive and upgraded ram. I don't actually remember how much ram, that's how long it's been since I used it. Anyway, ballpark estimates of what to ask are appreciated. I don't see any on eBay at the moment. Thanks for any advice.

I just snagged one of these in MINT condition off eBay "Buy Now" with power adapter, manual, a dozen AKAI/EMAX III Proteus Library sample CD's, 1 internal 2GB SCSI Jazz Drive and a 2 GB External SCSI Jazz Drive, with free shipping all for $89.00!!

The eBay listing was less than 1 hour old before I grabbed this deal, never owned the ESI4000 before, but I did own 2 ESI-32 Turbo Expanded racks and enjoyed them greatly through the years until the external SCSI CD ROM drives all quit working, never found replacement CD drives the ESI-32's would accept. :(
