Clavia Nord Lead Anniversary Model

Discussions about anything analog, digital, MIDI, synth technology, techniques, theories and more.

Well, normally I don't judge a book by it's cover, but there is something weird with that colour.

Also I think the build quality of the Nords does nothing to justify the rediculous price tag. When I first saw the Wave in the shop, I thought it was some kind of prototype or something, with large openings in the corners of the casing. Looked very unfinished.

Nice sound though.

I don't mind the reverse keyboard but whats with the certificate of authenticity? Usually you get those for things like signed baseballs or old comics. Are there bootlegers making fake Nords?

ewwww

Come on, if you're going to make an outrageous model, at least make it super outrageous, this sits uncomfortably in between for me
Moog LP + Casio SK1 and MT-75 + tube amp = good tone.

As you can see, Mark Kelly's been using Borgs for at least four years:

I agree to a certain degree. They are expensive, but look at the price of a Virus TI. That's almost the double. I don't know what the costs are for making a Nord. With a Nord you don't just get a VA synth. You get a solid one, compared to all that stuff Korg and Roland supplies the market with. As you see with any synths outside countries with cheap labour, the units are expensive. If Clavia was located in China they could probably lower the costs, but the workers are maybe less skilled (not necessarily).

I have the rack version of Nord Lead 2X which I find very pleasing to work with and look at, thou it sounds a little too clean and cold for me. Sometimes I wish I had bought a Virus Classic or a second hand Virus A/B/C.

The keyboard versions from Clavia just never did anything for me. Like some other said, the big holes in the corners of the casing above the keys looks terrible cheap

Also the Anniversary Logo looks cheap to me. I prefer Clavias rack versions anytime!

I'll never go on the "sounding clean and cold" wagon, besides that I didn't really thought those holes before you mentioned it
Im pretty satisfied with the pitchstick and the fact that it doesn't have a standard zeropoint. The rack doesn't offer that.
