Triadex muse

Postby dancinggods » Sun May 08, 2011 8:11 pm

Hey guys, I was looking around online last night and discovered the rare triadex muse algorithmic sequencer... Its design is incredibly appealing to me, and worth whatever money it might take to acquire one... I know it only has speaker out and an interface for another muse to control it.. I have two questions:

A. How useful would the primitive interfacing be to run the speaker out into an external input on my oberheim sem or eml 101... Would the filtering options thusly provide more shaping options?

B. Is there a mod to make this function like a cv controller for my synths?

Thanks!

i toyed with the idea of getting one of these when one came up for sale a couple years ago, but then came to my senses. i am not a collector.

apart from historical value, it's music usefulness is practically nil; a free i-Phone app will do 100x more (whichi is beside the point, but still...)

Well there is something to be said for esoteric sound shaping equipment. I work with archetypal themes that fit in with the structural basis of moving distinct parameters to create form through sound. In using electronic vibration enducing machines with programs based on control and reaction, a vast environment of organic variables manifests, creating a dimensional gateway to the thought forms of the unconscious.

iPhones cannot do this.

There is an old windows program written to emulate the Muse. Fun to play with and will interface with any MIDI synth. Can't change the sliders without a pause/glitch/hiccup, but still an interesting program. You can run up to 4 instances, for polyphonic Muse rythms.
Can still download it here:

Is there any info on how the sequencer in there works? I can't find very much info... It'd be easily doable in Pd or SuperCollider or something and interface with any other synth, if you knew the rules for the system...

well, it is primitive logic paths.
i would set up scales on a quantizer and feed some clocks to logic circuits for note-switching. most any modular w/ a sequencer and simple voice-path can emulate it readily w/ onthefly manual adjustment.
It would be more complex to patch everything under CV control to replicate the interface more closely, methinks.

I see no reason why max, SC or a nord modular can't do it too
