Well, the faceplates are more likely to be laser cut and etched, not milled.

In any case, I strongly doubt this synth will be very expensive for the simple reason it won't sell. I'm a little more than the MS-20, but not much

We need Roland to release another new "big" product so that Korg will unveil more information. :)

Korg Odyssey

Postby AnalogKid » Sat Aug 23, 2014 4:54 pm

No, don't get excited. I've got no new information related to the Korg Odyssey. That's the point. I come to this site for the inside scoop on the latest synths. The Odyssey is supposed to be released next month, and no one seems to have any information on it.

I first heard about the MS-20 mini and King Korg here before there was any official announcement about them. Some of you here thought that they were hoaxes. Remember that? Well, where's the inside information on the Korg Odyssey? Isn't there someone among our ranks who has penetrated the veil of secrecy at Korg? Doesn't someone here know someone who has a cousin who knows a guy who knows someone who works for Korg? Can the proceeds from the Vintage Synth Explorer t-shirt and mug sales be used to bribe someone at Korg for some information?

All I've been able to find on the Odyssey since Korg's official announcement earlier this year is some online blog speculation about the size (mini keys?) and price of the Odyssey.

The distributor I have my pre-order through informed me back in June that they'd pushed it back to 2015. I should've mentioned it here, but I forgot.

Yeah, there's more here than just decades old hardware. I don't just want to read or watch a manufacturer's ads or watch demonstrators paid by the manufacturer. I like to read the impressions/opinions of people here, much of which I find to be very informative. Besides, what is more "vintage" than a new Odyssey?

Uh-oh. Hmmm? Well, depending on the price and availability, perhaps I can time an Odyssey purchase to coincide with my next tax refund.

Yeah, it threw me off a bit, too. Still, I'd rather they take the time and do it right than rush it.

Maybe by the time it's released we'll have to decide between it, a new Memorymoog, and a Roland/Yamaha ARP 2600 recreation (there has to be a release they've been so silent on the analog front).

Where did you preorder this at? I've looked around online and can't seem to find any info even regarding its price.

I think some places like Sweetwater are taking pre-orders even though there's no price. I also heard from them that it's been pushed back to first quarter of 2015.

here's hoping it's a lot sturdier than the flyweight MS-20 mini i tried in a store a while back. the thing could have broken just by dropping it on the carpet.

what are you jabbering about, the ms-20 mini weighs 10.5 lbs.

no one is calling it a tank, but it is quite sturdy for it's size and build.

one could complain about the knobs... hopefully the sliders are built well and will last on the odyssey.
