No joystick either...
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Has been for 15 hours. Americans are as always a bit slow to catch up with the rest of the world. ;)

TOKYO -- Korg announces today a groundbreaking new instrument based on the rarest vintage synthesizer of all time, the Hammond Novachord of 1939. Working closely with Laurens Hammond IV, the great great great grandson of the inventor of the Hammond organ, Korg engineers have carefully recreated the original circuits, replacing the massive number of vacuum tubes with discrete transistor and SMT circuitry. Special consideration was given to modeling the "black tar" capacitors exactly including the use of hazardous PCB oil to duplicate the classic tone.

Bringing the design up to date with a velocity and aftertouch sensitive 72 note keyboard, the NovaKorg is exactly 80% the size of the original and includes a USB interface for both audio and MIDI as well as standard MIDI connectors.

The NovaKorg will ship with a VST plugin so you can integrate it easily with modern DAWs. 12,000 presets from world renowned sound designers including Craig Anderton, Richard Devine, Eric Persing, Dick Hyman and Ralf Hutter cover everything from cinematic soundscapes and dubstep wobbles to earthshaking basses and liquid leads.

The NovaKorg will be available April 1,2015 at Korg dealers worldwide.

THE NOVACHORD IS WORTH THE PCBS. I've ingested them as a result, and it gave me super powers.

Although Novachord was released to the public in 1939, the first batch of many hundred were built in Chicago in 1938 - Novachord 346 was one of them.

Within the total build period there were two major revisions - 346 is a Mk 1 with classic Hartley master oscillators and pulse profile vibratos. The later Mk IIs had a different oscillator configuration with voltage controlled LFO profiles. The aim was to make the 6 vibrato circuits (LFO) waveshape a little more natural sounding.

Personally I think I prefer the Mk I's! :-)

It is kind of crazy to think all 1069 or so instruments were built over a period of only 3 years or so considering the extreme effort that went into building these monsters.

Very sadly all of the owner records for these instruments were destroyed in a fire many years later so we'll never really know where they ended up.

Not authentic enough. the screws have to be stripped *and* bent.

Aw, Dan... you're the new Mike Fulk. :)
346 is awesome, and will always be.
I will make sure that Korg consults with you when they start making these. :D
