Automatic for the People

I am currently rekindling a great love for REM, imparticularly Automatic for the People.

Does anyone know where this was recorded and what tech was used?

The organ sounds throughout are amazing and the phaser/tremolo sound on the EP in new orleands instrumental is to die for!
Replicants are like any other machine, they're either a benefit or a hazard. If they're a benefit, its not my problem.
