midi sync clock help!

Postby hyphen nation » Sun Feb 02, 2014 2:48 am

Greetings guys,

I'm running logic pro x with an Apollo duo.

I'm doing a project where I am tracking a Machinedrum and a MonoMachine and live instruments. The clocks on the Elektron gear are deviating so wildly that the click tracks are only in sync about 10% of the time. To get the timing to be in sync, I want to turn Logic into the master clock. How do I do this? What would be the most minimal way of doing this? Is there something else I am not thinking about that I can use to get everything in sync?

Thanks in advance for your time/thoughts.

Set the Elektrons to external clock and turn on clock output in Logic? I'm not sure I understand what you're having a problem with.

Thx Stab,

I'm having trouble figuring out the devices and set up I'd need to make this happen. I didn't realize that the Apollo didn't have midi in it. Thinking I could just use that little usb midi box that Elektron sends with the Machinedrum? Maybe I am dumb…just curious about what I'd need to make this happen.

You should be able to, I think it does regular midi too. I haven't used logic for a while but I think you should be able to go into the midi preferences in logic and tick a box to send midi clock to the turbo midi thing, then it should work fine.

Thanks Man, I appreciate it.

Some of this is debugging the studio. I've been so focused on either playing my gear or building out the studio I haven't been recording in ages. I just started a new project with a mix of acoustic and electronic instruments. A major part of it is going to be recording to work things out. I just got logic, so I am also trying to figure that out at the same time, too.
