Depends.

What do you want to use it for?

How much extra?

I'm quite happy with my MC50, but I hardly ever save my sequences these days...

could get the mc50 for about $80 advertised as new and the mk 2 for about $100 used but very good condition.am gonna use it to trigger drum machine and strings/pads and a bit of sub base of my waldorf micro Q .Our music is more guitar oriented but we are also into acid housE [86-89]and early 80s minimalist electro.CHEERS.P.S has one got better memory capabilities

Get the MK 2 if you have to choose. If you need reviews or side by side comparisons, try 'google'. They're about the same but MK 2 has more, but I don't know exactly what the difference is since I have never shopped for a MK 2, but like I said, there are a lot of references on the 'net.

Good luck.

They're about the same, MkII has the MRM-500 software built in ROM,
with MC-50 MkI you had to load it via disk drive (if you actual own the original disk!).
That software just allows to convert to and from SMF standard MIDI file format.
