Prophet 12 module or Pro 2

Which one? And does the latest software upgrade for the Prophet rack bring it in line with the Pro 2? Finally, can someone explain paraphonic mode?

no,the softwarte upgrade for the Prophet 12 rack isn't going to make it match the Pro 2.... the PRo 2 has an extra, different (non-Curtis) analog filter in it.

I've been seeing deals on the Pro12 module here and there for as little as $1600, making it cheaper than the Pro2 at $2000.

Pro12 lacks the sequencer which is a pretty big deal and as mentioned above, the LPF is Curtis based so will sound different. Of course, it's polyphonic which is the biggest difference...do you want a polysynth or not?

Paraphonic means that there is only one filter rather than one per oscillator. So you can play four notes at a time but filter articulation is more limited than in a true polyphonic synth. There's also only one oscillator per note vs. four per note in mono mode or in the Pro12.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Aside from the filter type and the robust sequencer/arpeggiator implementation of the ProTwo, is the sound engine from the P12 and P2 the same or nearly the same? Is owning both redundant?

Well do you want a monosynth or a polysynth?

Quite easy really. Do you want 12-note polyphony or just mono? That's your choice.

Are you more of a piano/organ type player that likes lots of chord progressions and riffs, or do you just control it via ableton live and MIDI?
