Question about Reasons Malstrom

Postby WildmanWills » Sun Nov 12, 2006 2:00 am

What does a shaper do?

I understand the other parts of the synth but never understood what the shaper did and why I would use etc.

EA-1 & ER-1 - It's a start for a poor college kid :o
Reason / ReBirth too but I like hardware better.

Manual...

I think...

Uh, it shapes the sound?

Sorry, I can't really think about it at the moment.

Ah, go to http://www.propellerheads.se/products/reason/index.cfm?fuseaction=get_article&article=closeupmalstrom and click the image, then mouse-over the shaper section.
"I thought all you did was push a button and sounds came out!" - Mom on synths
"Not quite, Mom." - Me on synths

A sine wave shaper on a sine wave seems to do some kind of FM or ringmodulation
