Logic X update - nice new Eq's + more

Postby rob_lee » Thu Dec 19, 2013 7:50 pm

Just downloaded and installed the new update for Logic pro X and so far i'm well happy. I haven't went through everything yet but the new re designed eq's look pretty amazing. Remind me a bit of the Fabfilter Pro Q.
Here's the new eq's. Gonna check out the rest of what's been updated.

Thanks for the info, Rob.

I took the plunge tonight, despite my reluctance to change something that's working already (logic 9)... Took three tries just to get the fucking additional content downloaded and installed, at try three, I got fed up, trashed Logic X, rebooted, re-downloaded the app, and miraculously the additional content completed downloading and installed without some ridiculous error.

All that said, I had no problems getting all 400,000 AU's to validate successfully... which is a huge improvement over 9, well before I even pull up a mix. I have high hopes.

So far i haven't downloaded any content yet but the extra drum kits etc will get downloaded tonight. Been running the new update all day here and on my system its rock solid under OS Mavericks. The ability to adjust the Piano Roll colour is cool too.. the bright option is way better on my eyes here. There's tons of new stuff but i haven't tried all of them yet.
I hope they update the rest of the GUI's on other FX plug-ins too. This is a pretty big update and so far i'm impressed.

They're not actually new EQs though are they? They just reskinned the old ones.

:agree: Stab is correct, they have just skinned them to be more in line with the new look of Logic X / Final Cut X.

Nick, I had the same trouble dl'ing the additional content. Luckily it knew that it had already started so it did not restart the whole download. Can someone weigh in on what is worth adding. I doubt I could utilize all 50+ gigs, but right now I just have the reverbs, remix package, and a few others. None of the fancy drum stuff or samples. Would like to add more if it will be useful.

Read what I wrote "but the new re designed eq's look pretty amazing"

re designed doesn't mean new although i missed out the re designed in my last sentence ;-)

"Here's the new eq's"

Still they're more pleasing on the eye IMO

Technically redesigned could mean both, but I don't think Stabby was trying to clarify that it was only a visual update ;)

Fair point mate. Anyways i personally think its a cool looking re-design and i hope they update the rest of the included fx and maybe give some of Logics instruments a new makeover. Ultrabeat is looking a bit tired now :-)

@Stabby

Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part :-)
