What kind of power plug is this?

Postby detlef » Wed Sep 26, 2012 3:57 pm

Hello

I recently bought a 70's Elex keyboard at a flea market. It looks in very good shape, except for the power supply plug that is broken.
So I need to fix it and see if the keybord works fine.

There are very little info on this Italian brand. For what is worth, someone told me this model was used by progressive band Goblin.
It has very few controls. 3 voices: cello, strings, ensamble.

The thing is VERY heavy and it looks fairly strong build (unlike most of 70's semi-toys italians brand)
Therefore you would expect at least an audio output.

Strange thing is that this keybord doesn't have any outputs, nor internal speakers.

So my questions are:
What kind of power plug is this, and how do I replace it to a new stardad one?

Is it possible that this plug connectors carry not just power, but also audio signal to an external device?

here is a plug picture

It looks very much to me like your machine had an external power supply, which is obviously missing. You'll need to find a service manual, or schematics, or reverse-engineer the power supply.

It seems that Elex were also manufacturing the Hohner String Melody.
Well finding schematics seems impossible tough.
