Here's the idea: I would supply you with the new screen and the control panel/screen PCB from my synth, and you'd fix it. It's an easy fix, but I can't afford to break this machine so I'd rather have someone experienced with soldering complete this.
If you already happen to own an OB12 and/or live near LA that's a huge plus. Thanks.

We have now another option for replacing the OB-12 display which will allow controlling the contrast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtC110C ... load_owner
You will have to remove two wires (4 and 20) from the ribbon cable connecting the display, and connect with a 10k ohm pot to ground (white wire for the backlight display).
