"Nice, BA!" 8-)

It's certainly that sound. It sounds extremely layered and wet/dense. Is there anyone here with a 01/W who can sample that sound layer by layer, and dry? Recreating it with FM8 would really mean to have all the details right, and even getting the attack time for a flute note right is key - it's all in the details!

Why don't you try sending a PM to ItsMeOnly, I think he has a 01/w. He posted this back in 2006:

Would you believe I'm somewhat snooping around on eBay for a 01/w (FD)? It's not rational (and some of you would say 'completely unexpected'), but the sounds seem to be part of an important chunk of my CD collection. More importantly, they go for very little cash these days, although a dead display is one of the risks you run with it. I've seen a regular 01/w only 10 minutes driving from here for €150, but with a display that barely shows anything anymore. Other models (FD models mainly) are often like €100 more expensive.

No, I understand. I have been after the 01/rw rack version for some time myself. I want to get my hands on those nice sounds Jarre used on Chronologie, among others. Too bad Korg has not released the 01/w in VST form like the M1 and WS legacy editions.

If you buy a 01/w or find the flute loop sample isolated, I hope you would like to share it with me so I can try it in my 330! ;)

Aye. Until then there's this FM8 attempt. And as a bonus I put my FM8 beach with seagulls behind it. (3 operators, noise (x) and filter - I tell ya: the algo behind all this is against all logic). The flute arp is just the multi segment pitch envelope btw, the sample'ish speed differences is mere envelope scaling.

I often read on eBay'ish websites that 01's have a dead'ish display, is this cheap to fix? As in, a few bucks for a new light? It'd be a bit of a bummer to spend 150 on a keyboard and 75 on having the light repaired in a music shop.. :)

That's quite a convincing emulation! I look forward to the finished version
Does the rack version suffer from the display problem too? I hope not.
