I thought it best to ask in this section...How do you assign the pads to trigger say a korg ER-1...or any midi synth..?

On my mpc3000, I set the track to the midi channel I want to control and leave it as Drum. You'll have to make sure your pads are set to the midi note numbers you want. I set mine to ascending so c1 is the first pad and c#1 is 2, etc, but sometimes they are set differently.

the above is correct but you could also switch the program type from DRUM to MIDI - which is handy if you are not triggering internal sounds with the same program.

the default pad numbering system will kill you though - its all over the place.

i have a blank program with the correct midi note numbers (created via an auto-chromatic pgm) that I use as a template to play chromatically with.
