EMU Emulator II - Unidentified banks.

Postby JMP » Sun Jun 23, 2013 10:37 am

Uploaded this demo yesterday (apologies for video and audio quality) and wondering if anyone can ID the first and last few banks featured. The first one came from an EII owned by Dave Bascombe but never heard the track before. Some of the ones in middle are from TFF, Shannon and SOS band but never been able to ID the last few. Anyone heard these before?

Sounds Industrial. I'm not very familiar with their work, but it could be Front 242? That number appeared in the name of at least one of the sequences I think.

Had thought same myself previously, but never been able to find a track of theirs to match it up to...

Maybe it's a demo? That would be cool :)

The Tears for Fears stuff- is that sample set for live use? Because I'm pretty sure they used the Fairlight IIx for those songs in the studio initially. I only think that because "The Big Chair" is full of CMI presets. Or is that opening string sound on Mothers Talk an Emu library sound?

If you watch the TFF 'Songs from the Big Chair Concert DVD' you can see the EII used for those parts, so yes their setup for live use. Didn't think the Mothers Talk intro was a preset but may be wrong. The bank also has the synth-bass sound from Mothers Talk in there but the sequence to recreate it isn't so easy....!

Right, so those samples are off the multitrack, or the Fairlight. Ya, I didn't think that was a preset. Very musical band, lots of difficult parts- which one tends to forget when it's pop music! Enjoying that album now, thanks for the reminder. :)

Last track reminds me of The Neon Judgements "Fashion Party".
Perhaps a live version?

Bassline is very similar.... No quotes or anything else in there though....so remains a mystery.
