Ensoniq ESP redundant?

Postby BITCM » Wed Dec 25, 2013 10:02 pm

Hi everyone,
I'm new here.

Firstly...
I have an Octatrack that I'm very happy with as well as a decent rompler/midi controller.

I have an opportunity to pick up an Ensoniq ESP original for $150
Should I get it or would it serve me no real purpose?
I appreciate the input.

If the keybed repair has been done it would made a nice keyboard. As a sampler, it has a crunchy sound (12 or 12 bit depending on who you ask) but very limited memory.

well...I've already got a decent keyboard and the OT can sample at lower rates so I've got that covered if needed.

I guess it would probably end up taking up space...

...it still looks fun though

It's got analog filters, though, doesn't it?

I think you are talking about the EPS. Does the octatrack do chromatic sampling across keys? If not, EPS is killer. The whole ensoniq line of samplers is worth a shot. They are my fav samplers

I really like my EPS16+. You might be better off with that, or an ASR10.

Yeah, the OT does chromatic.
And yep...I meant EPS....typo.

I decided to pass on it...just really no need other than it's always cool to have something new to play with.
I'm saving for an Easel right now (and actually being pretty responsible so far).
