which Akai s series should I look for?

Postby sach » Thu Dec 26, 2013 6:02 am

Hi
First post but I end up on this forum alot. I have an Akai s612 that I use to down pitch drum samples. Nothing PC based comes close (I do real gritty lo-fi stuff). I sample out from my DAW into it, then record straight back in so I don't bother with disks etc.

I want to get something to process longer samples. Ideally upto say 30 seconds. I'll nearly exclusivley be using it to record long instrument samples in. Pitch shift and record back to Cubase. Should I just be looking at a s1000 or higher?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

You could always pitch up your source material on the computer, record that on the 612, and then pitch it back down on the 612 to get the sample back to its original pitch/length. Gives a pretty lofi sound that's for sure
