possible to do Mpc 5000 live sampling?

Postby n3wt15 » Thu Apr 10, 2014 5:27 am

So I picked up a mpc5000 in a trade and want to give it an honest effort, im playing around with it, and am wondering two things that will make or break me keeping this.

1. is it possible to do live sampling, primarily loop based, while the unit is playing?

Also curious if it is possible to record while it is playing, stop the recording while keeping it playing, and record another track seperately?
So far it seems that I cant stop recording, keep it playing, and start recording again, without it stoping the sequence.

thanks!

no live looping, which is a shame.

To record while playing back a sequence you need either an Octatrack or an MC-909. Or Ableton Live or Bitwig.

interesting, I would figure mpcs would be on top of that...that is a shame, well, I have no use for it now...chopping block it goes.

Didnt know the 909 did that, I have a friend who has one sitting in a closet im going to have to borrow :-)

i do want an octatrack again, because I know from videos, its the bomb....but I did have one, and have all the other elektron boxes, but just did not get along with the OT and how it worked...maybe I just didnt spend enough time with it, but it did seem very confusing and foreign to me

thanks guys
