Yamaha DX200 Editor

Postby SWAN » Mon Oct 29, 2007 12:14 pm

I have my eyes on one of these - but it appears the editor is only able to run on Mac OS9 machines-and I use OSx Intel Machines......has anyone found any way around this?

I think you already know what you can do to get it to work. I don't think you have to have the editor either to operate a DX200. So you might not have access to a few settings, I'd wager 90% of folks with one don't even bother with the editor, I could be totaly wrong, but I'd not let that stop me from getting one.

From what I understand-most of the real synthesis goes on in the editor-these only 3 FM synthesis knobs on the top. Also you need the editor to transfer DX7 patches.

I'd wager 90% of folks with one don't even bother with the editor

All the more reason to be in that 10%

I'd not let that stop me from getting one

....I agree with you on this-prob worth a try anyway...still-if anyone knows a Mac OSX editor...

Install Windows using Boot Camp, then install the Windows editor.

I know the AN200 editor only runs inside XGWorks Lite (Yamaha sequencing software), I'm guessing the DX200 editor is the same. So you'll also need to install that.

Another solution is to buy the cheapest (used?) Windows box you can and use that just to run the editor.

Sorry there's no better news for you.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

-post hijack-

so, I got my DX200 in the mail. no software.

I looked to download XGworks and the software specific to the DX. I found the DX stuff, but could not find the REAL XGworks.. -all other modules depend on that.

Is it pay for play?

So, wait...you really need the software to really make use of this? I was thinking of one, but that would suck... are you guys sure?

its a 3 op synth with 50 algorithms from the front panel, if want to dig in deeper, the software does so ... but you dont have to.
