Just got a Kurzweil k250, selling Motif XS6

Postby Max Websta » Sat Feb 23, 2008 12:25 am

The sound of the Motif just isn't inspiring me anymore. I bought the Motif ES in 2003 and upgraded when the XS came out. I really couldn't get a nice piano sound out of the XS. The arps are nice, but overkill. I think using the k250 will be more inspiring for writing songs. It might seem crazy to some. I've pre-ordered the Solaris so I'll have plenty modern sounds to play with. I even considered the Fantom G, but it'll be just more of the same rompler overkill. This is a good time for me to simplify

You're not crazy. I have a K1000 that I noodle on most of all. Its pianos and strings kick serious butt. (like the 250)

I picked up an ES the middle of last year, got rid of it, and picked up a K2500. I don't even know how to describe it specifically, but the quality of sound coming out of the kurz seemed to blow the ES away (and I liked the ES!).

it's normal to like an older rompler over the newer one. My favorite rompler sound is the TG500, which I found the piano and EPs to be satisfying to play while not as fully featured as the newer one.

I liked my old jd-990 much more than the fantom.

exactly how I feel about it too. the older got more character and dynamic which sounds better to my ears.
