Roland JD800 Humming?

Postby Timerider » Mon Nov 24, 2008 12:25 pm

Hello all,

I have a JD800, superb condition, don't use it alot now as i have gone to softsynths.

When i connect it up to my set up, there is a slight humming sound coming from the speakers, is this normal for a synth of this age due to it's circuitry etc? We are talking 1991 - 1993!

Thanks.

T.
J.S.Bach, seriously good for your mind!

if you're sure the hum is from the roland, probably time for new capacitors in the power supply.

My JD800 does not hum. My 990 has recently developed a buzzing noise in one output; I haven't yet opened it up to see what is going on.
Switches, knobs, buttons, LEDs, LCD screens, monitors, keys, mice, jacks, sockets. Now two joysticks!

I agree that it could be the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. And something else that I can't think of atthe moment due tomeds.
