Knobs on Yamaha CS2x ?

Postby Jexus » Sat Nov 29, 2008 4:48 pm

Is there any way to take the knobs off the panel, or are they glued there forever or something ?

I don't know how those dickheads managed to immobilise it during shipping, but the volume knob will not turn.

And I can't remove the chipboard if I don't remove the knobs first.

I do like this:

1) Piece of clothing (to avoir marking the knob & the synth)
2) A flathead screwdrive (a tiny one but robust too)
3) a pair slip joint pliers

Put some clothing aroung the head of the screwdriver and GENTLY slip the headof the screwdrive under the knob

Put some cloth around the knob to avoid denting it

Gently worh your way under the knob from left to right until you feel the pot while pulling wih the pliers.

The piece of cloth is,as you can see, really important. And the trick is to go gently to avoid breaking the knob. Yeah, it'sreally time-consuming but it always worked for me.

Hope that helps

Yeah, I have my own tricky way of doing it too. I use curved tweezers to sort of... lift the knob up. And it always worked but not this time. But have you owned a CS2x ? Are you positive that they CAN be taken off ?

I own a cs2x and I can confirm that the knobs can be very easily pulled off.
Actually, so easily that it could be a production fault.
My guess is that the previous owner had it glued in order to avoid accidental removal.
It is all about sharing...

I never owned a CS2x but worked on them only.

Why would I bullshit you? They usuall come off like a charm. But it happenf that they won't come off easily for whatevever reason.

Asusual, just trying to help. Don't believe me if you want...

Thanks for the advice, but the way you presented your insight suggested just the general way you work with all synths, so I just wanted to make sure you know how the CS2x behaves. Now I know MY cs2x is not in its original condition.
