The EM-1 imo, based primarily on ease of use.

Yamaha products always seem to be a clusterfuck to use. That's why I'm returning my RM1x - I'd like to spend my time playing, not scrolling through menu after menu.

~shrugs~ I find the RM1x easy to use. everybody's different i guess.
not really that many screens to scroll though either. It's just a matter of remembering a few button combo's.
everything else is labeled on the rm1x face panel.

Choose the EM-1. Hands down the best Electrible, and most fun to play with that I've owned. IMO
bought one at Mars Music when it first released.
I use to keep it in my messenger-bag during College. Something to do between classes

I loved the on-board distortion effects. Small, Lots of fun, and easy to use. A+

Just got an EM-1. It's not replacing my ableton set-up for writing full tracks or whatever, but it excels at drums and IMHO I like the synth section much better than the EA-1. Best first-gen electribe (I owned the EA-1 and ES-1, and am only going on ER-1 by reviews, but everyone agrees it can't really do usable drums whereas the EM-1 excels at this)

The ER-1 can absolutely do 'useable' drums. Not everybody wants to make banging dancefloor anthems.
