Roland JX8p vs Oberheim Matrix 6

Whilst I am quite satisfied with all the synths and modules I own, I just thought I'd ask everyone - out of two keyboards, which one would you pick?

Oberheim Matrix 6 or Roland JX8p?

Depends on the rest of the setup. Mostly analog? Then I'd pick JX8P. Mostly digital? Matrix. The idea would be to extend the sonic range as much as possible...

the matrix sounds way better in my opinion. there are some midi-buffering issues with sysex control that you dont have with the jx8p.

I have both and they're really quite amazing synthesizers. On the one hand you have great deep bass sounds with the Oberheim but if you don't know the matrix modulation section well enough to program your own patches it can become a bit, "overwhelming." As for the JX-8P it's an analog monster with an great amount of variety as far as being able to create strings that sound very, very close to real strings as far as synthesizers go (imo) to being able to really tweak it out and make bizarre sounds that thunder and boom throughout your studio. It's less of a headache to create patches (though not by much on it's own over the Matrix 6!) with and it's especially a breeze when you have the PG 800 to edit and control all the parameters with instead of the one slider they want you to use on the JX-8P. Having said all that I favor my JX-8P more than my Matrix 6 but not by a lot.
