Has anyone actually had a stand up guy/place work on anything vintage in or around Central Illinois? I'd travel to St. Louis, Indy or Chicago if it was worth the trip instead of mailing. I'm needing my P5 looked at, and beside sending to Greg @ Analog Synth Services, my options are slim. To me sending an old board thousands of miles to have repaired is counter productive if it gets roughed up in the process. :blackeye:

Maybe it hasn't been mentioned yet because he moved, but Steve at what was Electronic Musicians Services in Chicago, is now based at A Sound Education in Brookfield. He's worked on multiple "big" synths for me and is the only one I would trust to do that kind of work in the Chicagoland area. Reasonably rates and pretty fast turnaround.

I know we discussed this place, but I recently dealt with Deltronics in a 9-1-1 emergency. I left my Tempest power supply out of town (2 1/2 hours away) last weekend, and the guys @ Deltronics totally hooked me up after hours. I had my wife send me a pic of the DSi power supply, then sent it to the guys @ Deltronics. They found some old ass giant Yamaha supply in their pile of gear/crap/parts, tested it, wrapped it in a bag, stuffed in behind a fence under a plant and left it for me to grab after hours...free of charge. I've never bought a thing from them, and they didn't know me from Adam, good peoples for sure.

Chris Hewitt in San Jose is AMAZING!!!!!!!!

http://www.thisoldsynth.com/Portfolio.html

He made my Prodigy and Juno sing like never before. He is fair...and just a really great guy to talk to. If he would let me I would just hang out in his shop for days.

I highly highly highly recommend him!

I'm working on compiling a list of every known service center or parts vendor for posting here... while that's 'in progress' I'll add a person who works on Viscount Sysetms (to include the OB-12) and others...

I'm looking for a qualified tech in Montreal who can install the Kenton Socket Kit on my new old Korg 770. It doesn't look too complicated or else Kenton would be charging a lot more for the installation (http://www.kentonuk.com/products/items/ ... /770.shtml). My regular tech is busy. Thanks for any suggestions...

A big plug for Main Drag Music in Brooklyn NY.

I sold a synth to a member near there and it arrived with problems. Contacted them and they agreed to let him bring it to them for service. Customer had it back working 100% in two days. Thanks guys !!

GREAT tech: Chris Rowland/Offbeat Electronics in Longmont, CO, http://www.offbeatelectronics.com/.

Chris fully restored my OB-Xa and Synthex which both had issues requiring troubleshooting. He's a wonderfully nice and honest guy with reasonable rates and great communication.

There is a list of people on my site also on the sounddoctorin.com/synthtec/synth.htm page. Greg , Tony, I see already up there. Not seeing Dean at Five Star down in Arizona. He's a good engineer also. Didn't list me but I'm usually too busy anyway. Hehe. And nobody has synths in montana hardly. Not very local to most people.

John Koumoutseas at 43 Flagg Road, Southborough, MA 01772 ph. 508-963-1462

There's one I don't see above too. I need to add Tony to my page I see. Don't know how I missed that one..
