What shoul I have to use for this??

Postby LyLNauts » Tue Apr 09, 2013 3:14 pm

Hello everybody from Italy.
This is my very first post on this forum.
Great stuffs here.... ;)
I have a question for you (hoping to be in the right section): me and my band just finished our new album and next month we're gonna plan the presentation date #1 and then we'll have some promotion gigs out there. We put in the recording set some small sequesce among the tracks and we would like to reproduce it during our live concerts. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO BRING A COMPUTER ON THE STAGE!! I would like to know if there is some kinda way to record those tracks on any hardware and play those out directly to the mixer (L/R). OH, one important thing is: we would like to let them start from a remote switch control that allows us to control the start of each track-by-track (those something around 5-6 samples).
Please! Does anyone know how to let it work and which machine should we use??

Thanks in advance and please answer!!
Bye!!

Any card-based sampler should do fine.

roland sp303
sp404
sp505

elektron octatrack ($)

akai is supposed to release this mpx8 which might be good but i don't think its out yet.
It is mono-only so that could be a deal breaker.
edit: looks like sweetwater has them for $99

The sp303 and 505 don't have the storage space for whole song samples, the 404 is the one to go for. Specifically the sx.

Great suggestions guys.
And what about this stuff: Digitech JML2 . I think it could worth better my case. And it has got an expansion for SD card!
Tell me what you think.

Nice day.

You want the 404, that pedal is simply a looper. It could do the job, but it is not really made for what you need, as it is typically used for recording guitar loops on the fly, not playing backing tracks for prerecorded songs.
Brains can be used like a "stress ball," but only once.

The simplest solution is going to be a Roland SP404SX because it uses cheap SD cards for more hours of storage than you could ever use and it works with WAV files, no conversion to a special format is required....just copy them to the card on your computer, put the card into the 404 and you're done.

You can trigger samples from tapping on large pads or over MIDI (from a keyboard, footswitches, you name it).

It's available in music stores all over the world so you'll have no trouble finding one.

There's a reason everyone is telling you to buy a 404 :welcome:
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.
