need key bushings for ARP solus

Postby shaft9000 » Wed May 29, 2013 5:05 pm

hi all

i had no luck searching new bushings on Ebay for a solus - substituting Odyssey in the search didn't turn up anything, which was surprising.

does anyone know where i can source them??

If they are indeed the same as Odyssey ::I don't know -seems like they should be:: you can get then from Syntaur. I've successfully bought stuff from them in the past.

You can also get bushings from Vintage Vibe:
https://www.vintagevibe.com/p-484-synth ... hings.aspx
They're cheaper than Syntaur, and for $1 more, they'll come lubricated, which is important.
I've always ordered mine from VV, and never had any problems.
If you use the wrong lubricant on bushings, it can lead to keys sticking.

Give Bob at http://www.sounddoctorin.com a shout. I've gotten bushings for several Pratt Read keyboards from him. His prices are reasonable and he ships quickly.

+1 - I just bought a few hundred bushings from Bob, so his stock may be low. he's your cheapest option, and I think the quality of the molding is maybe a bit better than the others I've tried.

Also, although there's a few different types of P&R keyboards, all Pratt and Read keys use the same bushing type.

I have tried several types and the only ones that really lasted well are those from Archive sound.

The other option which I used on my PPG is a completely different method of repairing a Pratt Read action but the result is far, far better than any normal rubber bushings but more time consuming to install. The result though is an action that feels an order of magnitude better than even the best Pratt-read action with new conventional bushings. Available here:

a buddy mailed me some extras he had and i got them all on today in about an hour's work...the Solus is really easy to fix... like a VW bug. :)
i eliminated all crackling with some FaderLube5

a couple light pre-coats (well cured) of armor-all on the bushings has 'er playing sweeter than ever! :keys1:

thanks again for all the recos. mates :)
