Alright, someone please explain to me the negative effect of a line-level signal going into a mic-pre typically used for Hi-Z sources. Seems to me any decent mic-Pre will adjust its load based on the source impedance, so the noise floor isn't affected. Perhaps there is also a gap in quality between console mic-pre's and audio interface mic-pre's. Is the concern as simple as distortion of the peaks or is it more complex than that?
