Posts like these are the VSE equivalent of "Vaguebooking." No, seriously, that's a thing. Google it.

Back in 2005, I had the option between a Nordlead 2x and Alesis Ion (both new). I went with the Ion just for the sheer feature overload in comparison.

More like, 2manydumbposts.

Sorry, I just had to - my first douche post since joining 7 years ago. Seems that "2many" is a bit frustrated with gear right now.

No faith in Alesis. Euro crafted gear is the way to go. The EU has become the 1980's US. All US manufacturers seem to care about is software and crappy hardware that steers you to software.

Honestly I had no idea who Alesis even was back then. Both synths were new and in stores, and at about the same price. And I was going to buy a VA synth no matter what. And I could try both. So the features on the Ion far outweighed the Nordlead 2x.

I didn't regret it. Although I wanted a NL3 at a later point but those were too expensive anyway.

...riiiiight. DSI and Moog are pumping out great HARDWARE; not to mention all of the awesome modular stuff from Pittsburgh, Harvestman, Tiptop, Metasonix, Make Noise and a handful of others.

Can't really get into Clavia stuff. Way overpriced for what it actually is.

The Nord Modulars, original Lead and 2X are great machines; incredibly intuitive (I learned synthesis on the original Nord Lead thanks to this forum.) I'm really not sure why they are heading in the direction of cutting features yet still maintaing high cost, but it makes me sad.

I cant get enough of that stone wheel and wood bend.

Nord hardware is red, Alesis stuff isn't.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Clavia is a small, selfsustained manufacturer in Europe.

Alesis is owned by the mega-corporation inMusic and is in the US.

I liked the 2x, but I would never pay over $900 for one.
