Access Virus B/C Indigo 1/2...how to expand the banks (E-H)

Postby chimney chop » Fri Mar 21, 2014 2:35 am

my Indigo 2 has only the stock banks A-D

I have no idea how to use my DAW(s) (Cubase and Reaper) to load the extra banks.

anyone done this before and can give me detailed step by step direction?

thanks a million!

Hi buddy ,
you can download the extra banks from access website, they should be inside the OS Update file.
The easiest way to do this is to use Sendsx and transmit the SYX or MID file to the Virus, no need to use any DAW or midi-ox.
Image
1.open sendsx and set midi ports correctly.
2. connect both midi IN/OUT of virus to your midi interface
3. load the extra banks SYX or MID file to sendsx. Dont use the partial files , just load the big file only.
4. Press send :P
If you get any errors during the transmission then decrease the midi transmission speed.
Let me know if you need more details
It is all about sharing...

worked perfectly!

installed Bome's SendSX 1.30
ps: i'm using Windows 8 64bit

additional info for anyone else out there:

- to put the Virus in "update mode" power up while holding "STORE"

- set the Virus to "RECEIVE"

- it will then will read "RECEIVING UPDATE waiting for data"

- if you want to load a new OS...open and send file "first_c_650x352"
(send on Bome not on Virus)

- if you want to load the expanded banks E-H....open and send file "virusc_second_1024"
(send on Bome not on Virus)

(data transfer takes about 10 minutes)

- at the end of the data transfer (the Virus will ask you to accept or reject changes)

STORE = accept changes
SINGLE= cancel changes

then just wait 'til the Virus cycles through and accepts the changes.

disco.

A MILLION THANKS TO Yekuku

Hi!

Anyone know how to do the same thing with MAC. And how to save the current sound banks to the computer before I save the new banks.

Thanks in advance!

You could use Sysex Librarian on a Mac (free).

I still have a functioning copy of SoundDiver on OSX 10.6 that allows me to do more complicated rearranging of patches, path renaming, etc.

Hello,

I spent many hours to find the way to update my Virus B (slow tempo, change my midi set up, etc...), because I had everytime "Checksum Error" or "Block incomplete" messages on the synth.

I had to select the option on Bome, "Split long Sysex messages", and it worked perfectly.

Hope this could help.
