Kawai K1

Kawai K1 Image

The K1 is one of Kawai's most economic digital synthesizers in the K-series. The K1 has 256 digital samples of waveforms, 50 of which are from acoustic instruments. You combine up to four wave shapes to create very new and unique sounds. The K1 is capable of very good acoustic recreation, excellent unique synth sounds or at times, completely noisy walls of complex sound.

The K1 comes in many options: the K1m module/desktop version and the rackmount K1r (pictured above). It makes a great entry-level or back-up synth. Budget digital D-50-like synthesis doesn't get much better than this! It is used by Cirrus and Lab-4.

Iv'e got the K1m and the K1 II - Love this machines. Mostly I am stacking these synthesizers with other ones like my D-50 or the M1, Triton. Sounds also famous with the FB-01 synth.
The K1 is easy to use, great sounding and has its own character..:)

"I have owned one K1 or another since 1989. Patch S-1-A-3 is the finest string pad I have ever heard. And it has become an indispensable part of my sound."

Hi Louparte! Could you post a sample / video of this pad? Would love to hear it. If you do email me: ultra.theos@gmail.com

Thanks...

I have owned one K1 or another since 1989. Patch S-1-A-3 is the finest string pad I have ever heard. And it has become an indispensable part of my sound.

If you are lucky enough to find one of these -- that single patch makes it worth
the price you will pay.

I've just recently acquired the K1M for cheap and the presets sound amazing! It's not analog and the sounds are clean digital samples, but who cares? This is great for making lush ambient soundscapes and movie-esque sounds. Make sure you get a MIDI keyboard connected to this thing, because it's useless by itself. I use a Korg 707 with this and it sounds like a beast when you have the sounds layered on top of each other. WOW! BTW, the link to the PDF is incomplete. Go over here to get the FULL MANUAL --> http://soundprogramming.net/synthesizers/kawai/kawai_k1m
