Korg DS-8

Korg DS-8 Image

The DS-8 is Korg's contender among synths like the Roland D-50 and Yamaha DX7. It is a digital FM synthesizer with 4-operators per voice, 8 voices of polyphony and 8 parts multitimbrality. It's good for percussive, strange effect noises and such because its sound (similar to the DX7) is so unique. It has some digital effects such as chorus, flange, delay and analog-like controls for modulators, envelopes and the LFO. A joystick provides control of modulation and pitch bending. It also has a performance section for quick edits on the fly using (3) real-time sliders to control timbre, EG1 and EG2. A nice alternative to the common DX-7.

I have an Emu longboard (got this for piano sound), Korg X50 (new toy), Microkorg (vocoder function), Korg T3 (Epicness), Kawai K4 (wanted a K1 when I was a kid and this disappointed me).
My Korg DS-8 is still the most tactile keyboard I have. I love this keyboard.
When I play notes on all of them, I find it easy to harmoinze to the DS-8. It's rich.
The others sound kind of flat. Maybe just me but I love the DS-8

I picked one up for my birthday (biggest purchase I ever made at 177 dollars) and at first started to regret it for whatever reason but now I love this little guy. My first (of hopefully many) synth.

@Yun: It's pretty the same like having a DX11 plus you get an fx generator (chorus, flanger, delay, reverb, ...).
BTW programming it is much more easier than on any Yamaha FM synth...

So, is it worth taking DS-8 for about 200US$? It's in perfect condition. I already got another FM synths, is it any different than DX7IID (beside OPs number) or DX21?
