Korg's first digitally controlled analog synth hybrid; 8 sampled digital waveforms, analog resonant filter with separate VCF and VCA ADBSSR envelopes. Parameters can be altered in real time via a single programmable slider. 6 voice polyphony in two modes, or one monophonic mode with all six voices stacked. 12 digital oscillators (2 per voice) with 8 simple to complex waveforms, 1 de-tunable and with programmable interval. 64 presets that can be reprogrammed by the user.

Awesome fat basses, lovely warm sounding, pulsing strings, and hard, nasal leads. Some wonderful swirling effects can be found. Imagine a Poly 800 with 8 waveforms instead of 2, and you get the picture.

Due to reliance on sampled waveforms, it does not sit well through distortion, and some waveforms do not go well in a mix when used as a pad. Overall, an exceptional and underrated bass and lead machine with some nice pad sounds to boot.

The DW-6000 was quickly surpassed by the DW-8000: it expanded it to 8 notes polyphony, 16 sampled waveforms, a velocity sensitive keyboard with programmable aftertouch, auto-bend, a simple arpeggiator and a digital delay unit.

Ich muss mich "Rainbow Jimmy" anschließen, ich habe den DW-6000 nur kurze Zeit benutzt, bis ich mir eine M1 zugelegt habe. Die Sounds sind dünn, keine Anschlagdynamik und eine gefühllose Tastatur. Eine neue Batterie müsste her und dann weg damit...

Incorrect /misleading description.

Term "digitally controlled analog synth" is used from synths like Roland Juno's, JX serie or those KORG EX-800 / Poly 800 synths that description also mentioned.
And this have sampled waveforms. This could be called as hybrid though. It is.
But saying "digitally controlled analog synth" leads readers to think that it is analog synth.
And by synth being analog OSC's have main role with filters of course.
So this is not having DCO's but DO's instead. Digital oscillators.

And BTW. I am not those wannabe techno musicians /analogue lovers who accept only analog stuff and use their time with arguing which is analog and which is not. Or which VA sounds more "analog" than another. Sound matters.

I've heard wavetable and additive synths that sound better than many "real" analogs. Actually i am totally annoyed about whole subject but i hate to see false facts laying around.
BTW. Those EX800 / Poly 800 KORG's are those better ones compared to this.

I never liked this synth. I bought it for $800.00 new ( a lot of money then). Never could get a decent sound out of it. Yes it had analog filters but it sounded anemic. The chorus effect was awful. I'd skip this synth

I own both the DW8000 and since 2 weeks the DW6000. In my opion the analog chorus is a little bit noisy compared to the 8k but does give a lot more warmth. Pads of the 6k sounds nearly close to my JX8P. Alaising in it's higher notes is a bit irritating.
