For what it is, it's fantastic. The analog modeling doesn't sound ANYTHING like real analog of course, but it's still good in it's own way. The best thing about these units is the fact that they are inexpensive, easy to use, and great for live jamming. The mkII versions of the Electribes are basically exactly the same except that they are built more solidly.. aside from that there's very little difference. If you can find an Electribe for under $100, pick it up. They are worth the money. With an EA-1 and ER-1 you can make damn near anything.. best for techno styles though. :)

I had one given to me a couple of years ago, and after this time I have come to think about purchasing another just to have 4 parts. I mean this little unit is probably, "in my mind" the best and most innexpensive synth out there, including midi. Amazing bass lines can be created with the EA-1, along with great melodies. I love it, and will never sell it. Too much fun and it brings out the creativity in me.

super fun. try running a vocal sample in the audio in and tempo syncing the delay to a drum machine and gate the vocal patterns. love it for the acid sounds with the saw wave, other sounds are not always useful. bought it for 150 and have thought about selling it a few times now but something always makes me keep it.

Got one for 50$... never use it except as a midi through to something else from my DAW. I also own an ER1 & ES1 which I find far more useful. Its all about limits not surprises with this thing. I should really unplug it and use its sequencer for another synth but the dodgy portamento instead of slide function is frustrating. Might one day get the EMX instead.
