Korg 707

Korg 707 Image

A good entry level digital synth. It's small in size, simple in its design and offers fairly easy editing. It is a digital FM type synthesizer which makes some very thin and digital but sometimes interesting sounds. The synth engine is similar to the DS-8 without on-board effects. It isn't necessarily useful for any professional work but if you want a lo-fi cheesy digital sound from a toy-like synthesizer then give the 707 a try! It can even be strapped on like a guitar. It is used by Juan Atkins.

the 707 is a very nice compact synthesizer when you turn 707 in unison mode is it a power beast !! it sounds not the same like the 4 operator yamaha's (dx21 .27.9 ....) the yamaha's have not the sub bass bottom like the 707 .very nice machine to buy if you find one , good for industrial ebm bass sequences and weirdo sound fx and easy to program
a killer machine !!!

I disagree with the terms "cheesy" and "toy-like" in this case.. check out what dr. squ has done with a 707 and no effects. I think we sometimes get spoiled by workstations and expect everything digital to be a good "only synth."

this is a nice little synth, but doesn't sound quite as warm as the ds8 it derives from.

I got the same problem as alot of people ,,,NO SOUND CARD' S for my 707, this is my 3rd one, and this one had no card with it... I lost some of my sounds trying to arrange the sounds by turning off the internal memory .bad mistake. can anyone direct me to some cards for this unit? rom or ram .. love this keyboard still gig with it . but need more sounds...

This is truely an uniqe piece of kit. I had it for many years, and can't live without it. It's a very simple FM synth, but you can get some uniqe fat and warm sounds from it. Don't bother with the factory program sounds, for but 2 or 3 of them, but try tweak it to get the sound your after. And it got a memory card slot too, which is great. If your after a cheap FM, VERY CHEAP, this is the one. You sort of understand the FM basics from scratch when you use it. And add a VST filter and FX on your input to the computer, and your there :) I'll try to make an MP3 demo of my personal sounds so you can get an idea.
