Korg MS-10

Korg MS-10 Image

The MS-10 is a cool & classic analog synth known for its great bass and percussive sounds. It was released by Korg in 1978 as an entry-level, simple monophonic single-VCO analog synthesizer. With the authentic look of a mini-modular its single VCO is patchable using standard 1/4 inch patch cords to the VCF and VCA. It really is a powerful little mono-synth with plenty of knobs and a compact 32-note keyboard. It is CV/Gate controllable. A very cool feature is its external input to filter which allows you to filter external sound sources! Following the MS-10 came the double-oscillator version, the MS-20. The MS-10 is used by The Orb, SkyLab, the Chemical Brothers, Astral Projection, Autechre, Juan Atkins, Underworld, Sneaker Pimps, Luke Vibert, JunkieXL, and Add N to (X).

The DS-10 on the Nintendo is sick! I've been playing the heck outta the thing for about 2 months now. I ran the audio out into the inputs on my Korg R3, and used the KAOSS pad to go crazy on the R3!
Now I want a new DSi, and another copy of the DS-10 program!
For $30 bucks for the software, it's pretty hard to beat, and cool as heck when you show it to your friends. :^)

Goes lovely as an addition to the MS-20. Essentially, with 2 wires it morphs into a monster 3 osc, 3 filter, 3 vca synth with 2 lfos and external inputs, plus it provides the PW modulation that the MS-20 lacks. That'll put the wind up some Moog owners!

...maybe not Moog modular owners though.....

Great little synth, and the Nintendo DS version is fantastic. It has two dual oscillator versions of it, and drums (sourced from the MS-10). You can also link up to 8 of them wirelessly. All that and a Kaoss pad for you to play along live, with your sequences. Make sure that someone's checkng that you eat and drink.

This one snuck up on me in the early 1980's. It is not as rosey as the MS-20 that I have tried earlier. I did not know there was a MS-10 until months after playing the MS-20. The sounds are different and not as strong as the Jupiter 8 or the MS-20. It does not have the duo buzzing of the MS-20. It's been tried. I listened. This is a keyboard for smaller hands, sophistication and extremely blow dried hair.
