The Matrix is an extremely useful and fun analog-styled pattern sequencer using CV/Gate to control the Subtractor Polysynth module. Of course you can use it to power any other module in the Reason system that accepts CV/Gate for more creative or downright wacky effects and synth tricks!
The Matrix can hold up to 32 patterns (stored in 4 banks of 8). You can select from 1 to 32 steps per 1-bar pattern. Notes are programmed by choosing pitches to be played during certain steps of the pattern from within the Matrix's grid-like display. Although only one octave range is shown in the grid at any time, it has a 5-octave range selectable from a switch to the left of the grid. The very bottom row contains the velocity level (from 1 to 127) for each note and is depicted as a velocity bar-graph. Also, a CV curve can be entered into the Matrix's grid which can be used to power the filters, osc, amps, etc. of other modules in your Reason rack. The Matrix also features a Shuffle mode for livelier patterns.
