Syntecno TeeBee

Syntecno TeeBee Image

The Syntecno TeeBee is a bonafide 303 ACID emulator with some tricks up its own sleeve! At first glance you'll notice it has many of the same controls as the original TB-303 - Tuning, Cutoff, Resonance, Env Mod, Decay. It has square and sawtooth waveforms like the 303, and adds a ring modulator and external audio input. There's no Accent but this synth has MIDI with velocity sensitivity (there's your accent). Although it has a sequencer, it is very simple and hidden. Therefore, there is no cool 303 slide effect. However, slide effects can be controlled through MIDI, as well as every other editable parameter using MIDI SysEx commands!

As a 303 emulator it sounds pretty darn good. However, it costs almost as much as the real deal. The Syntecno TeeBee has MIDI in/out, Roland Din Sync and CV / Gate in/out as well as an external audio input making a creative tool in your studio for emulating 303's, filtering external audio such as drum loops or voice, and controlling older synths using CV / Gate. Probably the best 303 emulator besides the Novation Bass Stations.

Very solid knobs and enclosure! Truely awesome sound like TB-303 and MS-20.

I've been fortunate enough to own both a TB303 and teebee mkiii (yellow one above). sound wise pretty close to one another - 303 has accent + the classic sequencer slide , but the slide/legato can be easily replicated on the teebee with most sequencers (the closest I've found being Numerology), Accent using velocity. My Teebee gets more day to day use due to its multi purpose ability - I use 4ch CV+gate for my euro rack + MS20 & SYNC24 to my 303. The filter in works great on gating up drones and pads - also MS20 ring mod on the MKiii. If I had to, I think I'd sell the 303 before the Teebee.

A great sound-a-like for the 'real thing', but also a very solid bass synth in its own right. I had one next to the 303 for a while, and if price and collectability weren't an issue, I'd have a hard time picking between the two. Yes, this has no sequencer, but it does serve as a very nice MIDI-to-CV convertor, has the most solid knobs on any synth I've felt, ever, and was very professionally build. I'll get one again one day.

The Syntecno TeeBee sounds way better than the Novation BassStation. This thing is a true analog TANK. It is worth it's price in interfacing alone. A totally underrated/under-talked-about unit. 36 live gigs in Tokyo and never a hiccup, crash, missed note, etc etc etc...

I have a Syntecno TB-03 and it's black unlike the one pictured. It must be a more basic version as it has no ring modulator although it does have 4-channel CV gate allowing control of two different synths. I use mine to control a SH-101 and it is the best convertor I have used. The sound from the TB-03 is very realistic, even Kevin Saunderson comments on it in the manual. A really good unit if you can find one.
