Moog • Micromoog

How cute! A tiny Moog, but don't underestimate it. Sure, it's just a single-oscillator monophonic synth, designed as a budget performance Moog. But it's an inexpensive alternative to the Minimoog. In fact, it is often used as just a stand-alone filter processor since it has a filter that is virtually identical to the Mini, and accepts external sounds for processing through it (all at a fraction of the price for a Mini)! It also employs a ribbon controller (which was a cool new feature) for pitch bending. Notice that there are still plenty of knobs to give you access to the shape of your sounds! Unfortunately the construction feels kind of cheap. It is used by Apollo 440, Kraftwerk, Richard Barbieri, Chik Corea, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Edgar, and Add N To (X).
You must work hard tweaking the knobs to get exotic results but hey dont we all love to tweak them knobs.....
Build quality is so-so and the wood on the sidepannels is as plastic as they can get but it is is a real Moog and does sound like a Moog.
The white caps on the switches can drop off resulting in a ugly square switch emerging, very hard to find replacement caps.
Frontpanel is plastic....sad...Would be a super nice addition to a Multimoog, has some interfacing going on on the back so connecting would not be a problem.
Having the Multi side by side with the Micro is a powerhouse not to be underestimated.
