Micromoog Image

How cute! A tiny Moog, but don't underestimate it. Sure, it's just a single-oscillator monophonic synth, designed as a budget performance Moog. But it's an inexpensive alternative to the Minimoog. In fact, it is often used as just a stand-alone filter processor since it has a filter that is virtually identical to the Mini, and accepts external sounds for processing through it (all at a fraction of the price for a Mini)! It also employs a ribbon controller (which was a cool new feature) for pitch bending. Notice that there are still plenty of knobs to give you access to the shape of your sounds! Unfortunately the construction feels kind of cheap. It is used by Apollo 440, Kraftwerk, Richard Barbieri, Chik Corea, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Edgar, and Add N To (X).

This was my first synth and I dont think i could ever part with it. Great Moog bass and leads the CV jacks add TONS of options if you have other CV gear, works great with moogerfoogers. the only problem i have with it is that instead of the standard 1v/oct its .95v/oct. this can skrew you up if your using the keyboard to get another oscillator to track perfectly. Some of the micros have attenuators on the keyboard output (mine does) but i think its needs inverted attenuation (a la the new CP-251) to beable to track a 1v/oct vco properly. but other than that its is a fantastic synth that you will never get tired of tweeking.

Underrated Moog that needs some studio time to shine.
You must work hard tweaking the knobs to get exotic results but hey dont we all love to tweak them knobs.....
Build quality is so-so and the wood on the sidepannels is as plastic as they can get but it is is a real Moog and does sound like a Moog.
The white caps on the switches can drop off resulting in a ugly square switch emerging, very hard to find replacement caps.
Frontpanel is plastic....sad...Would be a super nice addition to a Multimoog, has some interfacing going on on the back so connecting would not be a problem.
Having the Multi side by side with the Micro is a powerhouse not to be underestimated.

Quite fun, but REALLY limited. Never had another moog, they're overpriced and overrated according to me (except the minis, they ARE worth the money). Sold it for beer money and I don't regret it
