Moog Micromoog

Micromoog Image

How cute! It's a tiny Moog. But don't underestimate it. Sure, it's just a single-oscillator mono-synth, designed as a budget performance Moog. But it's an inexpensive alternative to the Minimoog. In fact, it is often used as just a stand-alone filter processor since it has a filter that is virtually identical to the one found in the Minimoog, and it accepts external sounds for processing through itself (all at a fraction of the price for a Mini)! It also employs a ribbon controller (which was a cool new feature) for pitch bending. Notice that there are still plenty of knobs to give you access to the shape of your sounds! Unfortunately the construction feels kind of cheap.

The Micromoog has been used by Apollo 440, Kraftwerk, Richard Barbieri, Chik Corea, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Edgar, and Add N To (X).

Took mine out of the Anvil road case it had been sitting in for 25 years since I stopped touring. Unit looked great but padding had major disintegration (someone told me it's actually a bacteria!). Sounds good as new after cleaning key contacts. Still amazing as a solo performing synth. Especially like the single and double octave control for great bass tones with good speakers. Sure brought back a lot of memories!

I can't believe you guys didn't list SAGA as a user in the "used by" section of this page. All the keyboardists in SAGA used just about every known Moog product that there was. All of their first 5 albums feature Moogs almost exclusively!!

I love the sounds on this and is found on a very popular song also. I have made a similar preset. "If I see a chance I will buy it". Sounds like a trombone and kazzoo combined.
