Novation Super Bass Station

Super Bass Station Image

The Super Bass Station takes its classic predecessor and adds to it an impressive set of features. These include separate ADSR's for the filter and envelope. The key follow effect was added to filter section. An SH-type sub oscillator and noise generator have been added to the oscillator sections. An ultra-cool ring mod effect and a true mixer section for balancing all these sound sources together have also been added.

Plenty of updates have been made to the effects section for the ultimate in monophonic bass synthesis. The Super Bass Station now features distortion, stereo outs, panning, stereo chorus, two LFO's, an arpeggiator with clock out and doubled memory to 200 patches (50 preset, 150 user). A new slide function creates much more realistic 303 patterns.

An amazing upgrade that makes this synth a truly flexible and MIDI aware Roland/Moog bass synth emulator...heck it's way more than that, it's a Novation Super Bass Station! It's used by William Ørbit, Biosphere, Massive Attack, Orbital, Josh Wink, Out of Logic, Nine Inch Nails and Underworld.

I sold my original bass station to upgrade to the super and have found there are some midi issues with the super when triggering complex patterns

This could be a result of it being quite far down a midi chain, or maybe not - who knows

I have since repurchased an original bass station so i can have the best of both worlds

This little module is superior to many new analogue monophonic synths that cost a lot more... it is a universal MIDI-to-CV-interface that is able of handling different control voltages (including Korg)...

...and that for a price that beats any onther equal interface (e.g. Kenton)...

...besides of being a great synthesizer!!!

Bought one of these a few months ago for £250 and have to say that the unique sound quality and sound shaping possibilities alone are well worth the price, in fact I would pay more for one. I use many of the latest and greatest VST's, Moog, Virus TI, Nord etc. and this thing has its own big sound.. for House/club music this thing is simply awesome! Love it!!

I got one here. Mine has a low white noise when I turn it on. Maybe because it's old circuitery... Also , I don't know how to buy replacement pots for cutoff filter. Not manufactured anymore.

I wasn't prepared to pay the £200+ they go for nowadays so I had a very, very long wait before one appeared which I could afford. The extras over the original make this an extremely useful, and diverse, module, capable of fulfilling a huge variety of roles, from sub bass to screaming leads and special FX.

The Super Bass Station can sit nicely amongst my other gear BUT I can make it stand out if I want it to. The analog chorus thickens the sound beautifully and the filter reminds me of early Roland synths.

It is so good that I bought another - they are superb value, even at £200+.
