Roland TR-505 Rhythm Composer

Roland TR-505 Image

A cheap (budget) drum machine. It features 16 drum tones which unfortunately, are only mediocre samples. Its memory contains 48 patterns and 6 songs. Unlike its TR cousins it does not have individual drum tone outputs. There is no drum tone editing capability either. It does however feature extensive MIDI implementation, even the pads will transmit MIDI data. The 505 works well with a computer and sequencer or as a stand alone drum machine. It is extremely basic and unexciting but does make a good starter or play-along drum machine. Vince Clarke and Aphex Twin has used the 505.

what a crap review...look i used one in the early 90's till late 90's and I played black metal stuff, easy to program blast beats, and whatever you want with a few accents, for the day it was the best for a metalhead without a programming degree...check my music at exsanguinator@mymusicstream.com and listen to old black metal tunes of mine..
mines got a black screen now,how do i fix that?

can be a fun little machine messing with the sequencer. Don't be paying over $50 for one though!

Hmmm. Mediocre. Basic. Unexciting. All according to the fool who wrote the description above, of this drum machine. I call "bullsh*t".

Actually, it sounds excellent, classic sounds of the time - very Linn LM-1ish. Very reliable as well.
