Roland JP-8000

Roland JP-8000 Image

The JP-8000 Music Synthesizer has been designed using a first-of-its-kind Roland Analog Modeling sound source, combining the fat, powerful sounds associated with vintage analog synths with the flexibility of digital technology and MIDI. Like the classic Roland analog synths of the past, the JP-8000 sports a collection of 38 front-panel knobs and sliders for powerful real-time control, opening a brand new world of sonic possibilities. Innovative "Motion Control" feature memorizes all sequential slider and knob movements, ensuring that a great real-time "tweak" will not be lost. "Analog" synth functions like oscillator sync, ring modulation, -12/-24 dB filtering, cross modulation, an assignable ribbon controller and powerful pitch bend/modulation lever make the JP-8000 a very powerful synthesizer for live and studio use!

The JP-8000 is excellent for use in any music where classic synth sounds are needed. For techno, dance, drum&bass, hiphop, film scoring, synth pop and more! It is used by the Crystal Method, BT, Orbital, Ken Ishii, Vince Clarke, Goldie, Dave Holmes, Prodigy, Groove Armada, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, ATB, Überzone, Faithless, Gary Numan, Ferry Corsten, Scooter, Konflict, William Ørbit, Paul Van Dyk and Garbage.

@electrocrass VA isn't in vogue, hoarding anything decent by Roland is. All the emo kids are following in skrillex's footsteps with massive. The filters on this are a bit whistley on the higher octaves but generally it's smooth and suits it very well. I've always thought (and liked!) that the prices on these were a bit low, it seems a lot of bedroom producers are coming round to how versatile and tactile the sound and UI on this board is.

Been noticing the eBay prices of this thing skyrocketing lately. It's official folks, pre-millennium synths are becommingin in vogue. All those post-hardcore and emo kids who laughed at you during the electroclash years are now hoarding your favorite synths. This was once a great synth, but technology sounds rather outdated now with all the digital aliasing problems. Save yourself the money and get the much better Ion. The filter and modulation options on the Ion annihilate this thing.

so i see a JP8000 on ebay with most of the keys dead. cheap! when it arrives i do a factory reset..nothing. i check the split settings..nothing. hmmmm, i take it apart to check the ribbon cables to the keybed...WINNING! 1 of the 2 cables is simply unplugged! thanks ebay. $300. this synth is in mint condition with tight knobs and slidders. guess i was due for a deal! amazing warmth on this machine! buy one broken, most of the time it's an easy fix!

Awesome bit of kit. Sold my Jupiter 6 after realising this can everything that could plus so much more. A grat way to learn programming too. Obviously there's the renowned Supersaw but that's just the tip of the sonic iceberg. Get one.

This is one of the most fantastic synthesizers i've ever used!I've used every single synth from 80's also, all "DsP" based synths and can easy say, this one's a keeper!!!
The sound is so unique, none of the high end (dsp) based synths can imitate this beauty, even those new (toys) from Roland! It's funny enough to hear how "Vst's" can imitate JP, yeah right, not even close!
Highly recommended to everyone without "rubbery ears"!
Attention!!!, kindly ignore previous (B.S) comment! Thank You!
