The JP-8080 Analog Modeling Synthesizer Module offers an advanced Analog Modeling sound engine with 10-note polyphony, powerful External Audio Synthesis unlike anything on the market today, a unique built-in Voice Modulator, and Smartmedia storage capability--all in a cool, retro-styled 6U rack-mount module with tons of knobs and sliders for easy sound shaping.

Forty knobs and sliders for intuitive real-time sound creation and drastic sonic manipulation. Onboard Motion Control records all slider and knob movements for "hands-free" playback; all knob movements can be output via MIDI. The powerful onboard Voice Modulator allows external Mic/Vocal/Instrument input to be processed in real-time using one of three unique modes: Formant Filter, FilterBank, and Vocal Morph Control. Also features a good 12-band vocoder. It is used by BT, Ken Ishii, Faithless, and a.vanvranken.

I bought an 8080 on Ebay about 6 years ago, I found that the headphone volume knob was more loose than the other pots. The other pots and sliders on it were also pretty low quality but the headphone volume knob was the most 'wobbly'.

Recently resold mine on Ebay and the buyer claims that the volume knob is 'almost broken' (it's in exactly the same condition as when I bought it).

Can anyone confirm that this pot is of a lower quality and looser than the others...?

One of the best sounding synthesizers of al times(+JP8000),this synth does it al when you are a advanced programmer:al the classic synth sounds and also the sounds of today and even of tomorrow are in this incredible machine!
Highly recommended, very tweakable and so wanted, very versetile instrument,it really deserves the "JP" name!

Great sounding synth, lots of sliders and knobs for programming. Never use the vocoder ( I hate the sound of vocoders) and the keyboard midi in is somewhat strange but works. The sound is the best thing about the JP-8080. I wish it had more then 10 voices at times because pads are beautiful on this synth. I sold my Virus, Nord and Waldorf synth but keep my JP-8080. That says a lot because all of them are great synths in there own. Try one out it's a keeper.

Everyone talks about the supersaws but i believe the real beauty in the 8080 is the feedback OSC. Definitely a great addition for aggro EBM leads and pads. Even though i own a V-synth, i would definitely buy another one of these (I wonder if Bryan from VAC still has mine). Also stacking sounds in Performance mode is where this thing really shines - also the Porta on this synth is awesome for psytrance leads.

I got mine straight from the shop in 98 and it's been on every tune I've written since. The pads a fat and sound fantastic and the leads don't dissapoint. A worthy buy for any studio..
