Roland JP-8080

Roland JP-8080 Image

The JP-8080 Analog Modeling Synthesizer Module offers an advanced Analog Modeling sound engine with 10-note polyphony, powerful External Audio Synthesis unlike anything on the market today, a unique built-in Voice Modulator, and Smartmedia storage capability--all in a cool, retro-styled 6U rack-mount module with tons of knobs and sliders for easy sound shaping.

Forty knobs and sliders for intuitive real-time sound creation and drastic sonic manipulation. Onboard Motion Control records all slider and knob movements for "hands-free" playback; all knob movements can be output via MIDI. The powerful onboard Voice Modulator allows external Mic/Vocal/Instrument input to be processed in real-time using one of three unique modes: Formant Filter, FilterBank, and Vocal Morph Control. Also features a good 12-band vocoder. It is used by BT, Ken Ishii, Faithless, and a.vanvranken.

the Jupiter 8 is an amazing synthesizer I bought one new in the 80s
had it for years with my Roland tr909 as time went on I also bought a Roland jp8000
to see what everyone was raving on about with its 7 super saw waves and it was strange at first using it as I couldn't workout the osc,s very well but once I got used to the jp8000 it was just amazing I made sounds just as good and better then my
Jupiter 8) you can make every sound possible on a Roland jp8000 with will replicate exact as the Jupiter 8) in the end I sold my Jupiter 8 and keep my Roland jp8000
and never did look back) GO VA

This is the closest sounding VA ive ever owned, digital beast!! You've got the digi sound in this unit with all the anolog mayham, loads of imperfections. Learned to be carefull with this board, has all the potential to damage your speakers. Bought mine used at 450.00 canadian. Its the way roland approached this beast, has the suttle settings of a digital unit but also included are all the extreme's and warmth of an analog synth. I own alot of VA's and the JP-8080 is forshure the warmest and most unpredictable. Love it!

Love the filter and overall sound of the unit, great layout too!

Put this side by side with a Virus KB and you will ear the difference...

JP - Big smiley face.
KB - Big [beep] in' delusion.

As someone else's friend once said...
... "it will go to the grave with me!!!"
