Roland JV-1080 Super JV

Roland JV-1080 Image

The Roland JV-1080 was one of the hottest and most popular digital synthesizers ever to come from Roland. Incredible sound quality capable of emulating any instrument imaginable plus totally fat analog synth type sounds and loads of percussion! It has 64 voices of polyphony and 16 part multitimbral, it's no wonder this is part of almost every Film Score Composers set-up as well as many more artists and hobbyists!

It has 8MB of sounds and it also offers a lot of expandability with 4 expansion slots and 2 data card memory slots. You can get up to 42MB of sounds by adding any of the popular JV-80 expansion cards suited for Techno, World Instruments, Orchestral or Synthesizers. The 1080 has a large LCD screen, lots of effects and filters for creative flexibility, motion control and extensive MIDI implementation. Editing is intense but enhanced and simplified by external editors like MOTU's Unisyn. It is used by Faithless, Hardfloor, Vangelis, Scanner, Roni Size, LTJ Bukem and Apollo 440.

Great module. I happened to buy a used one around 2000. It took me a while to figure out how to program it but once I did it brought me great joy, and I still use it in my little studio today for certain projects. Great selection of presets and very good sound quality. I read, or heard somewhere that Tony Banks used one on the "Genesis" 'Calling All Stations' album and tour. (The one he and Mike Rutherford did with Ray Wilson after Phil Collins' departure.)

@ josue..... did you buy your 1080 second hand? when you turn it on does it says " internal battery low"? .. i think we both have the same problem, but it is very easy to fix.. just do what our friend sg did to his module simply changing its internal battery ( i think the battery he use is same as the cmos battery found inside desktop computers..) simple as that. but right now i dont have the time to open mine so what i only did is to press UTILITY the double click ENTER then press UTILITY again and it will be back to factory settings/presets .. hope this helps..
