Roland JX-8P

Roland JX-8P Image

The JX-8P is a decent analog polysynth. It has 6 voices of polyphony, great MIDI implementation and patch storage as well as an external memory cartridge slot. Though it is far more advanced than its predecessor, the JX-3P, the JX-8P has its drawbacks. Hands-on programming is sacrificed and reduced to assigning the parameter you want to tweak to a data-slider near the pitch/mod bender. Enter the PG-800 controller which gives you total control of all the JX-8P's editable parameters with hands-on traditional slider control. Membrane buttons dominate the front panel of the JX-8P providing access to the various preset and user patches and to page through and assign editable parameters.

Professional features can still be found under the hood of the JX-8P. Its 61 note keyboard is velocity and aftertouch sensitive. Just like the Juno synthesizers it uses DCO's for a very stable system, however its sounds are a little thin and bright. It also features portamento, unsion and solo (monosynth) performance modes. It is used by Biosphere, 808 State, Tangerine Dream, The Shamen, Depeche Mode, Überzone, the Cure, Go West, Ozric Tentacles, Future Sound of London, Jean-Michel Jarre, Europe, and Jimmy Jam.

deb: Sorry for the delay!!! Look for sellers "thankyou293000" "rocky_road_systems" or "music123" on eBay... They all sell them... Or just search for Roland, Korg or Yamaha 2-Prong Cable, you'll see many show up!!! Hope that helped

deb: Any 2-prong power cord will work... Pain-in-the-butt if you need one locally as most music stores don't carry them (at least where I live) but check eBay & look for the Roland, Korg or Yamaha 2-prong power cords (either will work)... Just bought one a couple months ago from a guy on there, it was cheap, he shipped fast & it works great!

I'm at work but if I can find his username when I get home, i'll post it here! GREAT synth, I already own one & just put a 2nd on layaway as backup... If I get my hands on an MKS-70 one day, i'll probably sell ONE of the JX-8Ps (but not both lol)

Hi, looking for a power cord for my "apparently vintage!" JX-8P keyboard. It seems like only yesterday I was 15. Anyhoo, you have one or have any advice (like are power cords fairly universal?), I'd be grateful!
I'm in Calgary so that's always preferable.

I just had mine serviced an cleaned up. It has sat in its roadcase and untouched for about eight years now. Myself and the keyboard tech were amazed by how everything was working 100%. Including the after touch. The JX-8 is one my favs. It now sits right underneath my Nord Lead 2.

Now I just need to find a replacement PG-800. My was either lost or stolen.
